The festival of Raksha Bandhan signifies a chaste bond of love between a brother and sister. On this day a sister ties an auspicious thread called Rakhi on the wrist of her brother believing that he will protect and help her through the thick and thin. It is a custom that when a sister ties the Rakhi on the brother's wrist he gifts her valuable gifts or cash.
Traditions and Customs
On this sibling festival, a sister selects colourful Rakhis for brother/s, cousin brothers and duly ties on their wrists. In returns, a brother pledges to protect her and give her money as a token of gift. It is a custom that a sister must tie or send Rakhi to her brother on this day. In case a sister lives in distance she send the Rakhi to her brother through mail or post. A brother too sends sign amount to his sister.
