India is the leading producers of Incense Dhoop sticks since the 19th century and is also claimed to be the best among all other perfumed stick found anywhere in the world. In fact, the use of Agarbatti has taken place in India thousands of years ago in temples and houses to worship in Hindu culture. Since the perfumed sticks emerged, stripes of bamboo sticks were collected and the perfume ingredients were applied to them by naturally occurred adhesives such as bark paste and oils. The bamboo sticks were rolled into the pasty perfumed ingredients and oil either dry or moist and were dried for some days. Dried sticks were also dipped into a solvent of various flavors which were also naturally extracted either from flowers or oils. These handmade incense sticks were colored using different colors that also represent their flavors. Not only these, but also some high-quality Dhoop collection made from rare binding ingredient with incredible fragrance made for temples and rich peoples such as zamindars and kings.

The significance of Agarbatti in India

Although there are many room sprays and perfumes emerged, Dhoop sticks have its own significance in every aspect. Mainly Hindu poojas and festivals which are made with immense holy interest and sacred thoughts consider Incense sticks as the essential part of their prayers.
